The world doesn't end with a crack.
It ends with a wet, sucking sound.
Not in fire. In rot.
It doesn't collapse - it festers.
And in that decay -
The Pit.
A sealed, sepulchral, sacred-in-its-filth prison - into which the centuries have thrown everything that doesn't fit the order: heretics, witches, soldiers who lost their wars, women who spoke too loudly, and men who spoke in the wrong voice.
But sometimes...
...the Pit receives the Great.
The Pit
is not merely a prison.
It is a bodily temple of ruin.
The living flesh of the continent itself - where every ring, every level, is a new circle of degradation.
LEVEL I - THE SURFACE
The wardens. Former killers, rapists, necromancers. They were permitted to remain human. For a price. They guard the entrance, cut down those who flee - and receive food, women, and one night above ground each year.
LEVEL II - BELOW
Those who became something else. Madmen whose minds were eaten by the dark. Flesh that became altars. Walls that whisper.
LEVEL III - DEEPER STILL
Something that cannot be put into words - because words do not survive down there.
This visual novel was born in the span of a game jam - a small team, a tight deadline, and one question that wouldn't let go:
What breaks a person before they fall?
It is a prologue. A wound before the scar.
The full game - THE PIT - is coming. A dark fantasy metroidvania where violence is not a feature. It is the world. Where every level down is a new version of what you are willing to become.
This is where it begins.
